The role of the Horticulture Expert is to assist the Retail Garden Center Leadership Team with varieties of Nursery and Greenhouse plant and customer service projects. This position is for a career seeking horticulture expert who is seeking a career ladder in the Omaha Metro’s largest Plant Production Operation and Retail Garden Center.
Requirements
- Educational Background in Horticulture related field preferred
- Tenure Greenhouse, Nursery, Plant Production, or Retail Garden Center roles
- Plant identification and knowledge of Greenhouse and Nursery plants
- Desire to learn and practice new horticulture techniques
- Retail or customer service industry experience
- Self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills
- Reliability and flexibility with schedule – availability to work overtime, evenings, and weekends
- Ability to work in a greenhouse and nursery all zone 4 seasons; physical ability and weather tolerance
- Creative and energetic. Enjoys working with diverse teams and community engagement
Responsibilities
- Knowledge expert for care for and sales of Greenhouse and Nursery Plants
- Customer Services Support; Walk-In Customers and Phone Inquiries
- Cross divisional Garden Center Leadership Support; Greenhouse, Nursery, and Plant Production Leaders
- Training and mentoring new employees and college interns; Contribute to training strategies
- Excellent customer service and real time resolutions in a Retail Garden Center
- Excellent positive motivation techniques; Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Contribute to process improvement efforts for nursery operations and workflows
